Dear Friends and Supporters,

We had a wonderful month here at New Hope. In addition to the blue skies and warm weather, a highlight for our children was the Easter holiday. The preschool children spent the weeks prior learning about spring, bunnies and eggs. The children were able to dye eggs and did a practice mini-egg hunt.

During Easter weekend we kept with our usual tradition of renting a bouncy house (this time we got to keep it for 3 days!), Easter egg hunt and Easter party. The bouncy house was a huge hit with most of the children and even many of the nannies. It was almost more fun seeing the smiles on the nannies’ faces than the children themselves; these ladies work so hard to care for our children and it was great to be able to watch them be silly and giddy with the children as they bounced and played together.

A big thanks goes out to Coyote Creek Elementary Girl Scout Troop 32885
Money they raised for New Hope helped cover the costs of our Easter bouncy house this year!

Another huge thanks goes out to our dear friend Gek who once again, with her Love for Orphans team, organized the Cook-4-Hope fundraiser which raised 100,000 RMB for a child’s heart surgery! This year’s event featured 10 cooking teams from different countries and lots of delicious food.

Many thanks to all of our supporters who continue to help us in so many ways.
With Love and Gratitude,

Robin, Joyce and the New Hope Staff

“Hope begins in the dark; the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come. You wait and watch and work:
You don’t give up.”

Anne Lamott

This month:
10 new children were admitted into our care
6 children were adopted
8 children were hospitalized or had surgery
2 children passed away
We want to also extend our sincere thanks to Love Without Boundaries. They recently raised $11,500 (USD) for heart surgery!
CTFCF has committed to help with the running costs of the Henan Special Care Center in Zhengzhou over the next 3 years. This is a real blessing and our thanks go to all concerned!
We are still in need of funding for Charlotte who is in Tianjin First Central Hospital awaiting a suitable match for a liver transplant. Expected cost of the transplant is $40,000 (USD). If you would like to help sponsor her, any help towards her medical costs would be greatly appreciated.
We have started work installing our new boiler, but again we are still in need of a sponsor to help cover the costs. The expected cost is $45,000 (USD).
Baby News and Movements from Beijing’s Hope Healing Home
This month we welcomed Lemuel and Mya from Luoyang. We were sad that Amos needed to leave Beijing to go to another one of our units. Robb went to Hangzhou for heart surgery. Kenzli had another inpatient evaluation for liver transplant follow up. We are very excited to have Archie back from Nanyang. Kale returned from Hong Kong for visa processing. We recently learned that Gisela-Annalise, who was previously in our care, was adopted!
